I need to vent.  I think I know too much to sit on my hands and do nothing about the direction this beautiful country is heading.  Thus is born – “Help! My Government Sucks!”.

I know you probably are going to read into this and ‘pooh-pooh’ me because you think I’m just another  ‘Obama hating white guy’ but hear me out before you throw the ‘far right wing nut job’ label on me.  I am a little conservative, but my concern is not about party politics.  My concern is about corruption and greed that is being labeled as ‘party politics’.

Do you know how many multi-millionaires there are in Congress?  44% (as of 2009) are multi-millionaires.  The top ten of which have a net worth averaging over $200 million EACH (and they’re mostly Democrats – so much for the ‘rich republican myth’).  In the rest of America, we have an average of less than 2% of the population having a net worth of over $1 million dollars.  But on Capitol Hill – you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a millionaire.  Politico Story

I have friends in Las Vegas that knew Nevada Senator Harry Reid when he first left for Washington DC.  According to several people – he barely had a decent pair of shoes.  Now he’s got MILLIONS OF DOLLARS.  How is it that representing the people of Nevada is so lucrative?  Where did the payoffs come from?  What did it cost the people of Nevada and of the rest of the country?

So I’m going tripping down this trail to find out.  As I do, I’ll publish my findings here.  I’ll also publish articles and interesting tidbits about the state of our economy and what Washington politicians are doing – both right and wrong.

ABOUT BLOGGING

I read a great article the other day about blogging.  It was saying that Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street is the perfect example of a great blogger.  It was not that he’s miserable and mean – more that he’s opinionated and does not care what people think of him.  That’s a tough thing to get over for a blogger.

Deep down everyone wants to be ‘liked’.  I always think of that as the reason that so many Republicans move to the ‘center’ when they go to Washington.  They want to be ‘liked’.

Well, if you like what I say – great.  If you don’t – that’s OK too.  I’m not here to please anyone but me and those that think like me.  Welcome to the grouchy community of Cap’n Ron.   I think I’ll call it  – “HELP! My Government Sucks!”
