To my friends, fellow Nevadans, and Americans everywhere:
Those of you who know me well need no reminder that I speak my mind in matters that affect our American way of life. I am a capitalist. For nearly a decade, I have been an entrepreneur engaged in a niche market inspired by my passion for old American hot rods. That livelihood and many of the rights guaranteed by our Constitution are threatened by the ongoing progressive liberalism of the ever more socialistic government in Washington, DC. I do not think I am alone in my frustration with the status quo, thus I am willing to speak out frankly to all of you. I humbly ask you to read the following paragraphs. Then, I urge you to take action to improve the rest of the time we have to enjoy life on this earth, and to make the future better for our children and grandchildren. What follows are my own personal opinions which I hope are shared by many of you.
IF YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THE WAY THINGS ARE GOING – YOU NEED NOT READ ANY FURTHER. JUST DELETE THIS EMAIL.
As a nation, we have been in fiscal crisis since 2007. George W Bush is not responsible for creating the crisis, but because he did not veto a single spending bill proposed by the liberal congress, he ultimately shares in the blame for a downhill slide of epic proportions. The left tilted congress that took charge under the leadership of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi began to rip and tear at the fabric of our National Treasure, causing budgetary bleeding that has now become a torrent of bloodshed that, if it is not stopped, will bankrupt this country before many of us expire. I am pledging my efforts to eradicate the socialists, progressives, and other incumbent members of Congress who support bigger government, no matter which political party they may claim to represent. I am of the firm belief that our nation would benefit more by replacing veteran politicians with neophytes having no political experience, than to allow business as usual in the Senate and House of Representatives.
I believe the midterm election in November is perhaps the most important event of our lifetimes. It is a watershed event that can reverse the course of a seemingly hopeless state of affairs. Control of the House of Representatives and Senate must be wrested away from the progressive socialists and political aspirants and a clear statement made by Americans that we won’t ever allow this kind of thing to happen again. It starts with the defeat of Harry Reid. This fool must be deposed from his lofty throne as Senate Majority Leader if anything positive is going to happen. Yes, our tiny little State of Nevada is now the focus for hopeful American citizens in every corner of the country, because if we can’t get rid of Harry, the chances are that much of the needed housecleaning in Washington will not be accomplished.
Last night I attended a meeting to listen to the views and assess the positions of Sharron Angle, the Republican contender for the Senate seat held by Harry Reid. I went as a skeptic. Although I voted for Sharron in the primary election, until last night, I was fearful that perhaps Ms. Angle could not get the job done either. I changed my mind. I will tell you why specifically.
First, Sharron Angle, a diminutive 5 foot tall grandmother, exhibits spine than any man twice her size. She has a track record as a Nevada state representative that makes David’s fight with Goliath look rather lackluster. Not afraid to take on any political establishment, she stands tall for what she believes. Here are three of the most important of those positions: (1) ObamaCare must be repealed; (2) The Federal Reserve must be audited and open to public scrutiny; and (3) Phony Mae and Fraudy Mac must be dismantled and federal housing controls eliminated. Candidate Angle has been horribly smeared as “too extreme” by the campaign advertising for Reid. These advertisements patch together her sound bites, so out of context that a 10 year old can recognize the splices, yet the dirt keeps being dished out by the truckload. In truth, every criticism by Reid can be refuted and I do not believe there are any skeletons in Sharron’s past that she would have to worry about. Approximately 300 plus people attended this meeting and many hard questions were asked – and answered without any hesitation, hedging or political posturing. It was refreshing.
Asked about her campaign for the remaining weeks before the election, Ms. Angle stated she will debate Harry Reid on October 14th and had another quasi-debate scheduled September 23rd at Faith Lutheran High School in Las Vegas, though Harry won’t be there in person – only taped responses to questions. She will have some mainstream commercials airing in the coming weeks, but her position is to elicit votes FOR HER rather than AGAINST HARRY. In other words, she says she wants her voters to know that she can and will do the job that needs to be done regardless of who holds the position now. I, for one, think she can. In fact, I am certain she can win this election if people will simply listen to what she says and watch what she does. Campaigns cost millions of dollars. She says she needs another $25 Million to pay for campaign expenses (primarily radio and TV spots) in the weeks ahead. She says she hopes that donations will come from a million concerned citizens who each send $25. I am one of them. I hope you will be, too. It is easy to do. Simply go to her website: www.sharronangle.com/ or drop a check in the mail to: Sharron Angle Campaign, 7710 W. Sahara Avenue, Suite #127, Las Vegas, NV 89117. Remember, no matter where you live in the United States, this election affects you. Your support can be essential to her success.
Here is why I think Sharron can defeat Dirty Harry:
First, history shows that turnout for midterm elections can be very low for those who are happy with the way things are. Fat, happy, and sleepy liberals, stuffed to the bursting point with Obama inspired entitlements, may not turn out to vote. Of course, this is an emotionally charged election. Service unions and public unions like SEIU will be encouraging their membership to protect the sweetheart deals they now have. We cannot count on lethargy alone, but it should help.
Second, Sharron Angle spoke of a coalition last night with several of the other Senate candidates around the country. If you don’t live in Nevada, support for any of these candidates is equally important. Here are the key contenders for Senate seats across the country: Pat Toomey in Pennsylvania, Marco Rubio in Florida, Ken Buck in Colorado, Rand Paul in Kentucky, Mike Lee in Utah, Ron Johnson in Wisconsin, Dino Rossi in Washington, Joe Miller in Alaska. If all of these candidates, each currently leading in the polls, defeat the incumbents, then the majority in the Senate will become conservative. That means that a mere 9 votes must be obtained from liberal senators to repeal ObamaCare and other tax and spend legislation. Many Democrats are already preparing to abandon the sinking ship they are sailing with Barack Obama.
Third, Nevada voters are seen to be stupid by Harry Reid. He is so out of touch with his constituents it makes you wonder if he wasn’t subjected to a high dose of mercury poisoning growing up in the shadows of the mining slag piles in Searchlight, Nevada. People here see that their lives have been negatively affected by many of the laws that Harry has supported. They have seen their homes, if they still have one, become devalued to nothing; they have watched their employers being forced out of business; they have experienced loss of jobs, loss of spending power, and loss of their life savings. Harry has abandoned the real people in support of those who will vote Democrat. Nevada citizens saw the favoritism of Harry’s support of loans for the $3 Billion City Center project with the promise of everlasting prosperity for all. Instead, the contractors involved in the project are now awaiting payment for their work that will never come. Nearly 600 separate private contractors have not been paid, though their craft union employees enjoyed fat pay checks with plenty of overtime.
Lastly, I spoke with Sharron after the public meeting and asked her point blank if she would support a bill to add a 28th Constitutional Amendment to the effect that “No law shall be passed by Congress that is not applicable to all members of the United States Congress as it is to all other US citizens.” She says she is fully in support of this concept and the end to special privileges held by only the Washington, DC establishment.
At 66 years of age, I have never been involved in taking political action until now. All of my life I have exercised my privilege to vote, and I have always tried to submit an informed vote, but now I am compelled to do more. I hope and pray that Sharron Angle defeats Reid, a person for whom I have no respect and much contempt. He embarrasses me as a resident of this state. I implore you to join me to support Sharron Angle for US Senator.
Great note from a Nevadan to the rest of us
